TITLE:                       EMT

Department:             Emergency Services / Ambulance
Reports to:               Ambulance Manager, Paramedics, and Charge Nurse
Supervises:             No one

Job Summary:
In Field: To perform patient care under supervision of Paramedics/Medical Control as described by EMT field protocols. Drive Ambulance using safe driving practices.
In ER: Assist RN/Paramedic with patient care as described in Emergency Services Policy/Procedure Manual. Provides service to all ages including: neonate, infant, child, adult, geriatric.

Essential Functions:
  1. Proficient in the basic care of the ambulance patient.
  2. Drives ambulances using safe driving practices.
  3. Assists with the operations of the Emergency Department/Ambulance Service as directed by Charge Nurse/Ambulance Manager.
  4. Supports and adheres to the mission, vision, values, and polices of BAMC and the Emergency Department.
  5. Communicate pertinent information regarding patient, physician, personnel concerns to the Ambulance Manager.
  6. Maintains cleanliness of equipment and vehicles.
  7. Must be able to complete the physical, sensory and mental requirements of the position.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Additional duties as may be assigned by your Ambulance Manager.
  • Perform Public Relation Activities as directed by Ambulance Manager.
High School graduate or equivalent. Currently licensed as an EMT by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT), or current EMT licensure in both Wisconsin and Michigan.  Current American Heart Association CPR certification.  Valid driver’s license in the state of residency.  Must possess and maintain a clean driving record as evidenced with no exclusions listed under insurance contract. Responds within 15 minutes of an ambulance call when on call.
Working Conditions: 
Potential exposure to Latex products, blood borne pathogens, hazardous materials, and communicable diseases.
