TITLE:                       DIETITIAN - ROOM SERVICE MANAGER


Department:           Dietary

Reports to:             Director of Dietetic Services

Supervises:            Dietary Staff

Job Summary:

Performs job duties of a Dietitian-Room Service Manager.  Primary focus is coordination of room service processes; such as interpreting nutritional needs and room service supervision using professional judgment and critical thinking skills.

Essential Functions:

  1. Addresses day to day operations of room service processes in the organization; coordinating positive outcomes for meal service with patients, nursing, organizational outcomes.

  2. Resolves complaints and concerns for food service, cafeteria service, patients and

    other departmental staff.

  3. Function as Hostess to newly admitted patients.

  4. Coordinate all aspects of tray assembly and Room Service, Food Service and Cafeteria food preparation.

    1. Supervises and follows up with dietary staff to uphold all food quality/preparation and HACCP principles and policies.


  5. Tray assessments conducted weekly, food quality/preparation issues are discussed with Director, other Dietitians and production staff as appropriate.

  6. Provide scheduled coverage for Clinical Nutrition Processes:

    1. Perform clinical nutrition processes as outlined in Policies and Procedures; complete nutrition triggers, assessments, multidisciplinary meetings involving clinical nutritional care, interdisciplinary rounding, etc.

    2. Counsels patients on Medical Nutrition Therapy per protocol.

    3. Provides appropriate documentation.


  7. Computer skills and word processing abilities required.

    1. EPIC, CBORD, Room Service Choice software are primary for Bay Area Medical Center and Dietary Department.


  8. Participates on inter/intra departmental teams/committees as directed by hospital policy or Director request.

  9. Provides on call clinical and/or food service coverage as scheduled and on holidays and days when no dietitian scheduled.Perform clinical nutritional needs remotely as needed.

  10. Plans and presents monthly in-service programs for dietary personnel; conducts training sessions for other departments as requested.

    1. Reviews training guidelines and preceptor forms with newly hired or newly trained employees.


  11. Acts as Diet Office Manager; maintaining diet office manual.

  12. Performs nutrition-wellness presentations; presentations to community groups as well as requests for in-house participation are appropriate.

  13. Participate in yearly policy and procedure manual review, and other administrative functions as requested.

  14. Assist with completion of EOM Report and Payroll process.

  15. Additional duties as assigned.

  16. Must be able to complete the physical, sensory and mental requirements of the position.


Qualifications:

Professional registration (RD) with the American Dietetic Association required. Certified registration (CD) with the State of WI required. Serve Safe Certification desired.  Computer Skills and Word Processing abilities required.

Working Conditions: 

Potential exposure to Latex products, blood borne pathogens, hazardous materials, and communicable diseases.
