TITLE:                       Rehabilitation Aide

Department:             Rehabilitation Services
Reports to:                Director of Rehabilitation Services/Manager of Rehab/Occ. Health Services and Office Support Staff
Supervises:             None

Job Summary:

The rehabilitation aide will provide clinical and clerical support to departmental operations by assisting therapists and assistants with preparing the patient and therapy area for treatment, assisting with scheduling and other clerical duties, and maintaining the cleanliness of the department.

Essential Functions:

  1. Supports the efficiency of the Licensed Therapy Provider and the smooth functioning of the rehabilitation department.Responsible for direct patient contact activities under the supervision of the licensed provider such as patient positioning and transfers, preparation and application of therapeutic modalities, follow through on routine patient exercises or start up on exercise equipment, assisting with crutch walking and gait training.

  2. Escorts patients to and from treatment areas and may start treatment under the direction of a licensed provider.

  3. Tracks inventory of supplies and informs supervisor of items to be ordered.

  4. May perform registration, scheduling, cashiering, and follow up of patients to ensure they are cared for in the most efficient and courteous manner.Coordinates patient appointments with other areas or physician offices as needed.

  5. Performs reception/clerical duties with may include answering phones, taking messages, transferring calls, greeting, registering and scheduling patients; billing, faxing, photocopying, assisting with medical records, opening and routing incoming/outgoing mail.

  6. Reviews therapy orders in the electronic medical record system and routes patient orders to appropriate treatment area

  7. Maintains the general cleanliness of the department during business hours.

  8. Responsible for stocking patient treatment rooms and treatment areas with clean linen and well as laundering hot pack covers.

  9. Responsible for cleaning equipment and providing audits for quality assurance.

  10. Depending upon assigned location, may be responsible for daily pool maintenance as well as water checks with the pool levels.

  11. Depending upon assigned location, may be responsible for leading community pool classes and providing guidance for class attendees for pool safety, rules, etc.

  12. Promotes and contributes to a positive, problem-solving or service recovery environment.

  13. Maintains established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, customer service guidelines, performance improvement program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.

  14. Enhances professional growth and development of self and others through participation in education programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.

  15. Must be able to complete the physical, sensory, and mental components of the position.

Additional Responsibilities:
Additional duties as may be assigned by your director/supervisor.
May be required to work at other clinics such as Marinette, Crivitz, and Stephenson. 
High School Diploma or equivalent - required.
1 - 2 years of experience in health care, public relations, or health care education - required.
1 - 2 years of experience in patient scheduling/registration - required.
Intermediate level computer skills including experience with word processing, spreadsheet software, data entry, and keyboarding - required.
Ability to type 35 wpm- required.
Knowledge in Microsoft Word - required.
Knowledge in medical terminology or equivalent job experience - required.
Demonstrated customer service skills.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to engage people in a warm and positive way.
Current CPR and AED certification - required.
Prior inpatient and/or outpatient experience within the rehalitation field - required.
Working Conditions:
Potential exposures to latex products, blood borne pathogens, hazardous materials and communicable diseases.
