TITLE:            Stephenson Outpatient Pharmacy Technician

Department:     Stephenson Pharmacy

Reports to:       Director of Pharmacy/Outpatient Pharmacists

Supervises:      No one

Job Summary:

The candidate will work in the outpatient retail setting. Hours will be consistent with the hours of the retail pharmacy. Performs routine technician jobs on a daily basis including electronic drug ordering and restocking, assisting the pharmacists in the prescription filling process, entering prescriptions into computer system and insurance verification and processing, assisting the customer with nonprescription medication needs, performing the check out process.

Essential Functions:

  1. Proficiency on retail pharmacy computer system and ordering system.

  2. Responsible for basic technician duties in retail pharmacy setting.

  3. Responsible for pharmaceutical stock and the re-ordering processOrdering, stocking, and order entry with an emphasis on patient specific and age specific parameters.

Additional Responsibilities:

Assists the Staff Pharmacists and Director of Pharmacy in their performance of their duties.

Qualifications:

Previous Pharmacy technician experience and certification required. High school diploma, ability to perform basic mathematical calculations involving fractions and decimals, ability to follow written and oral instructions, the ability to complete work assignments within a given timeframe, the ability to work closely with others as well as independently, and the ability to possess good people skills with regards to interacting with the public.

Working Conditions:

Mostly standing, some walking, lifting and pushing.  Some exposure to patient elements.
